Costa Dorada – for history

The Costa Dorada is a strip of Mediterranean coastline in Spain’s Catalonia region, southwest of Barcelona. Resorts and beaches line the coast, known for its calm, shallow waters. In addition to welcoming resort towns like Salou and Cambrils, the Costa Dorada is also worth visiting for its historic sites, such as the Roman ruins of the city of Tarragona and a 12th-century cathedral. When to visit Spain?

Spain is a very large country that encompasses a variety of climates. The best time to visit Spain is either in late spring or early autumn – especially if you’re going to Andalucía or the Mediterranean coastal areas. Northern Spain is at its peak in the summer months (July and August), and central Spain is best visited in October or May.

Generally speaking, summer is hot no matter where you are in Spain. The real differences come into play in winter. The northern regions are colder, while the interior can be snowy. The Atlantic coast, meanwhile, is more temperate and wet weather is much more common here during the winter months.

In most places, busy season falls between June and August, and this is when hotel and package holiday prices peak. If you are looking for a package holidays to Spain, try early summer (May) or early autumn (September) instead.

The major exception to this rule is Madrid, which actually gets quieter in July and August as Madrileños go off on their holidays. If you can withstand the baking temperatures, this can be an affordable time to book weekend break in Spain to visit the capital.
